I'm trying to create points along a line that represents the center of a stream. I want the points to be created based on a 5' increase in elevation according to a tin/terrain model. Is there any way/tool to do this in Arc?

The only way I've found of doing it so far is converting the tin to 5' contours then going through and making a point wherever the line intersects a contour. There has to be a way to do this automatically, doing it manually will take to long since I'm working with a large area. Any help would be much appreciated.

Also I'm running ArcGIS 10 and have all the extensions if that helps any.

Thanks,
Kevin

I ended up just assigning the line a z-value based off of a terrain model of the area.

I used the following tool to do so.
AcrToolbox> 3D analyst> Functional Surface> Add Surface Information

I then created a terrain model from the data using bedrock topo lines, bedrock pts and the line I assigned a z-value to based on the terrain of the area, to create my new terrain.

ArcToolbox> 3D analyst> Terrain Management> Create Terrain
ArcToolbox> 3D analyst> Terrain Management> Add Feature Class to Terrain
