When I am editing my landuse dataset, at times I have to split off a new parcel so that boundaries will change but the internal use polys should not. Maybe a better explanation. When I am editing my Landuse layer, I draw in the new parcel boundaries over the existing landuse boundaires, and then what I want to do is clip this new poly or merge it into the existing data set

in the attached picture the selected poly is my new parcel, I need to somehow clip it in but when I use the clip feature it gets rid of the polys inside this one???
any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
