I configured a new database connection within ArcCatalog (Connection to ArcSDE 9.3/Oracle10gR2). A click on the "Test Connection"-button gaves a "Connection succeeded".
Doubleclicking on this newly configured Database connection gives the following error (see Attachment).
The english error message should be: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist SDE.GDB_Items
I tried it with four different ArcSDE 9.3/Oracle10gR2 databases. Always the same Problem. The problems still remains if i use "direct connection" or "application connection" method.
It's not possible to see or to retrieve any data layers from the ArcSDE.
I thought ArcGIS 9.4 Beta would be backwards compatible with ArcSDE 9.3 ?

NIM052512 - Direct Connection and 3 tier connection failed with error: �??DBMS table not found [ORA-00942: table or view does not exist][SDE.GDB_Items]�?� with ArcGIS Desktop 9.4 Beta 1 connecting to ArcSDE 9.3 SP1.
This should be fixed in Beta 2.
If you are working with ArcSDE 9.3.1 please contact support and we can work with you to figure out what is going on.
We are using ArcSDE 9.3 SP1 (not 9.3.1).
As it is a known bug, we will wait for Beta 2.
