Can named users be deleted and replaced for new ones? We are setting up the users within our AGOL. I was thinking if we set up ArcGIS Online named users using the staff real names For example: MarioPerez and then if this user leaves what will happen. Can I delete this named user and create a new one to replace it for a new named user?

Thanks,

T

Yes, you can delete a user by clearing out all their content (or transferring it to another user) and removing all their groups. Once deleted, the named user can be assigned to another person.

Hey Tamara,

If you are an administrator for your particular ArcGIS online organization you can add or delete members as well as change roles and other features. You first want to log in to ArcGIS online go to the "My Organization" tab. Here you will see a list of all the members of your organization. If you click the gear underneath the "Action" heading there is a drop down where you can delete members. It is important to note you may want to first disable the member in order to retain any of there content that is useful for your organization, once that is transferred over you can go ahead and delete them from your organization and that will open up a spot for your organization. To invite a new member go to the "Invite Members" tab and you can either invite a user with a ArcGIS online account or you can go ahead and create a new profile valid in your organization and simply give that individual the information.

Thanks,

Eric

What if a user leaves and his or her account still has data that you want to transfer, BUT that user did not leave behind the account password?  There does not seem to be a way for even the overall organization administrator to access a user's account and to change a password.

Eric H,

If you have administrative rights you should be able to select the individual in question before you delete them and select the "manage items" link. This will bring you to their content and as an Administrator (if you enabled your organizational rights that way) you can share their content to your organization or transfer it over to somebody else. Keep in mind another plausible (but not as efficient) is to look at their map and simply "Save As" a new map to your content.

Thanks,

Eric
