Are Custom Registry Settings Still Required on Windows Server 2008?

Discussion created by wdrc on Jun 26, 2014
In our 9.2 environment, using Citrix (XenApp 6.0) on Windows Server 2003, we were advised to add the following to the Windows Registry:

1. setting the 'HeapDeCommitFreeBlockThreshold' in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
2. adding 'arcmap.exe' to the 'LogoffCheckSysModules' in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Citrix\wfshell\TWI

Does anyone know if either/both are still recommended/required on Windows Server 2008?

For 1, it seems like it is still required or at least recommended, but I know there were a lot of changes to memory management between w2k3 and w2k8.

For 2, I believe it was to fully terminate the arcmap executable after ArcMap was exited by the user.

Thanks in advance,
