Hi,

I am trying to import DWG plans into ArcMap 10. I am just importing the line features which works fine using Feature Class to Feature Class and they display as they should. As there are over 16,000 features in each plan, I would like to merge them to a single feature, but when I try to do this it corrupts the lines, appearing to over-simplify everything so that the plan begins to look like a TIN. Is there a way to avoid this?

Thanks.

It doesn't really explain why, but I have found that if I use the Geoprocessing tool Dissolve instead of the editing tool Merge, the lines merge without corrupting. I would still be interested to know what the difference is between these two methods, but this does solve the problem.
