Could an application be built to collect GPS points with ArcGIS for iOS?

I can think of at least 2 ways to use this as a GPS collector:
1) Collect points and store it in a SQL Lite database.
2) build a web service to transact GPS coordinates between the iphone and a server-side database.
You don't need the ArcGIS iPhone API for either one of these, although if you are looking to get GPS in any non-mercator coordinate system, it simplifies things. The ArcGIS SDK for iPhone also gives you a more GIS-friendly way to tap into the Core Location libraries in the iphone sdk.
