We have been using Database Roles and creating database user logins (Windows auth) for every individual who accesses our SQL Server ArcSDE geodatabase. Though not terribly cumbersome, there is a delay with new hires and departures. Can anyone speak to the efficacy of using Application Roles instead, whereby ArcMap itself authenticates, and all permissions are handled by SDE? Thank you!
