All,

I have a field with records that look like the following:

"PAm;0"

I would like to write a script in field calculator that uses the if in to find the semicolon then return all the characters to the left of the Semicolon.

so in the new column it would be "PAm"

I have been browsing all the resources i can think of and i can't find an exact example of this.

I know i could copy it to a new field and do a find/replace since there are only two characters i don't need, but I'm on a mission to understand python and how to write scripts so i don't have to repeat the same processes over and over again.

Thanks!
