Share a Service from ArcGIS Online?

I'm currently running v10.2 Trial Versions of ArcGIS Online and Desktop Standard version. (I've just worked thru the ESRI online training video "Smartphone GIS: Capturing Data with Collector for ArcGIS"). That video shows doing File menu > Share As > Service > Publish a Service > effectively publishing a web map to ArcGIS Online from within ArcGIS Desktop

My questions:
1. Can I create a service from trial versions of ArcGIS Online and Desktop Standard, without having ArcGIS for Server? ( I'd like to publish a web map without having to copy my features to .shp files). 
2. If so, can someone explain the steps.

Hi Dave,

You can publish a Hosted Feature Service to ArcGIS Online with a Desktop Standard and a subscription (including a trial) to ArcGIS Online.

Try following the steps outlined in the following documentation to publish directly from ArcMap:
