I have a file geodatabase with a two feature classes and several tables. I have a "feature-level metadata creation" python script that retrieves data from the user based on a selected feature in the feature class, then creates a new row in the metadata table and writes the data to it. This script worked fine in 10.0 but is failing in 10.1 because having an MXD open with the file geodatabase in it automatically creates a shared lock on that workspace that won't allow the insert cursor to create an exclusive lock. The only work-around I can think of is to move the table into a different workspace, but that seems to defeat the purpose of having a geodatabase. Does anyone know of another solution?
