ArcGIS License Manager 10.2 on Machine Running Server 10.1

Has anyone had success upgrading ArcGIS License Manager from 10.1 to 10.2 on a machine still running ArcGIS Server 10.1.
I can't go through the full blown upgrade for server right now, but I have some desktop clients that are pushing to upgrade to 10.2. My hope is to upgrade the license manager which should (according to the documentation) serve 10.1 and 10.2 licenses.
We are running Window Server 2008 R2.

I do not have my license manager installed on the same server as Arcgis Server, but I do have ArcGIS Desktop installed on the same server.  I was easily able to upgrade the license manager to v10.2 without upgrading the ArcGIS Desktop software.
