Apologize if this is the wrong forum, wasn't sure which was best.

We're currently on ArcInfo 10.0 sp 5. Plans are to upgrade to 10.2 at some point, but don't know when. We're getting Lidar data to use for various purposes, such as determining optimal placement for wireless antennas around the city and other lidar-esque functions. Do we need both 3D Analyst & Spatial Analyst for this? We very rarely do any raster work; I think I made a density heat map once in two years is all. But is lidar data worked with in 3D Analyst, converted to rasters for Spatial Analyst, etc.? Or does 10.2 come with better tools or have different extensions available? Thanks.

The best answer may be found at the following URL - http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//015w0000003z000000  There's quite a bit of information here but I'd say 3D analyst and core ArcGIS at a minimum.

Hope this helps!

Well, I guess I'll just recommend we keep both extensions. Not sure exactly what we'll be doing since we don't have the data yet. Thanks.
