Code Gallery Layout

Is there a way to switch the layout of the Code Gallery so that it's more information-dense?  Currently, what I see are 9 thumbnails in a grid, with text below each thumbnail.  In the lower right of the page are the number "buttons" 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, followed by dot-dot-dot with all of this bracketed by "jump to previous/next batch" buttons.  There is no indication of how many "pages" of 9 thumbnails there are.  There could be 6 or a thousand.

I would rather see 25+ of the Code Gallery items per page, each represented by their text title and the first part of their description.  I don't care about the thumbnail; it's rarely useful.  I would also like to see how many "pages" there are, or the total number of items there are in that gallery.  Since I can't figure out how to search the code galleries, knowing how many pages or items there are would let me know whether I want to browse through them.
