DeleteFeatures.... FeatClass has Attachments

Perhaps I am just missing something very simple here, but the docs say I need to convert the Feature Class to a Feature Layer, apply a selection in order to apply DeleteFeatures on the selected features.  Does this sound correct?

What if my input FC participates in a Relationship (ie, it has Attachments enabled on it)?  When I convert this to a Feature Layer it loses that participation and completely destroys the point of the GDB's Attachments functionality.

Can someone show how to simply delete a feature of an input Feature Class by its ObjectID?  I don't want to create a whole bunch of other stuff, copy things around then re-assemble -- I just want to delete a single feature.  That's it.

Thanks!
