Morning,

I have just installed ArcGIS Web Adaptor (IIS) for running on a Windows Server 2008 Platform.

I ran through the installation as per the installation guide and video and left most things as default, I wasnt given the opportunity to specify a port so believe I am using Localhost:6080.

The problem arises when I try to configure my Web Adaptor. Again, I have followed the installation guide and get the following Application Error:

"Unable to register the GIS Server with the Web Adaptor. Please Make sure that the GIS Server machine is running and that the account specified has administrative privileges to the site."

The machine Server is running and the account used is the Primary Site Administrator Account created when I set up my service.

Any ideas where I am going wrong.

If you have not done so, register the arcgis server using a path similar to:
http://<your website>/arcgis/webadaptor/

are you work with 10.1 or 10.2?

It is when I try and register the ArcGIS Server that I am getting the issues.

I am using Server 10.1 and when trying to configure the web adaptor I get the application error posted above,

"Unable to register the GIS Server with the Web Adaptor."

I have connected to Server Manager from a networked machine using the same Server Name and Primary Site Administrator Account, so I know that they both work but for some reason I am getting this error.

You have to setup a website and port in IIS before you install the Web Adaptor.  If you only have the Default Web Site at port 80, then the Web Adaptor will default to that port.  If you have multiple ports setup in IIS, the Web Adaptor will let you choose which one you want it to install to.

On your GIS Server, are you using secure services?  Are you using a default port 6080 (http) or a secure port 6443 (https) or something else?

On the GIS Server I am using the default 6080 port.

I did manage to configure my web adaptor yesterday by uninstalling ArcGIS Server 10.1 and the re installing it without Service Pack 1 and the configuration was successful.

I have no idea why this would work but it did.

If you install SP1 for ArcGIS Server 10.1 you also have to install SP1 for WebAdaptor. In this way it will work correctly.
