Template with options to select layers

I have a map with a lot of layers and I would like users to be able to turn layers on and off, ideally in a left-hand side bar that is always shown - similar to the desktop version of ArcGIS. Is there a template that does this? I can modify parameters in javascript or python but I am not good at coding so my customization abilities are limited.

The basic viewer displays a Layers menu option that allows you to turn layers on and off. Most of the others don't. All templates are downloadable and can be customized. But you have to host your custom application on your own web server.
