Reducing the # of geometry in a shape file based on values

Hi all,

I could use some suggestions with this problem that I'm having.  I'm pretty sure there's an easy way to do this.

I have a shape file containing contour data.  (FID & NAME columns only).  The NAME field contains the contour value (100,200, and etc...) in intervals of 100ft...

Here's the million dollar question:

@ 100 ft. interval the data is way too dense for my purposes.  I would like to generate a new shp file that contains contours @ 200ft. interval, essentially removing half the geometry.  Is there any way to formulate a query that will do this?  My SQL kung fu is not strong but if I can execute a query such as:

Select all rows where the Name/200 is not a fraction

There is one problem though... the Name field is a text field.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.
