ArcGIS Engine Support going forward

Should legacy applications written in ArcGIS Engine be converted to ArcGIS Runtime (i.e. is Engine being phased out?) or will Engine support continue for some time (and for how long)? I'm seeing a lot of information about ArcGIS Runtime, but I don't see a whole lot of new features added in Engine. Even looking at the agenda on the past Dev Summit I didn't see much (if anything) that applied to Engine.

Any news from ESRI on this?

I don't speak for ESRI but it seems clear their focus is on the ArcGIS Runtime.

If it has the functionality you need then I think that you should use it instead of Engine.
