Our department is in the middle of evaluating our World Geography curriculum.  We have an AP Human Geography class that follows the outline in the Rubenstein text.  We are trying to decide if it makes sense switching from the traditional regional geography curriculum to a thematic approach that more closely resembles the AP curriculum but does not go in to the depth of that class.  This is a required class for ninth grade students here.

I am interested in other educator's opinions on this idea.  Specifically, has anyone had experience with thematic geography a the high school level outside of the AP class?  Any comments are appreciated.
