Hi everyone,

Im new in using Arcgis and I would like to post a query if somebody could help me.  I have points that are close to each other and since there are closely neighboring points I want to group these points within a radius of 30km. I also want to know what points are grouped with which points. Im trying to use the buffer tool, however it makes a 30km radius for each point and overlapping with other points.  Does anyone have idea in solving this?

Thank you very much.  Any help is appreciated.

Which license level do you have - ArcGIS Basic, Editor, or Advanced?

Hi Vangie,

By 'group these points' do you mean that you want to create brand new files from each group?  Or do you want to just display them differently in the map (color, size, etc.) if they belong to a particular group or not?

Have a look of Aggregate Points tool (requiring Advanced licensing). It creates polygons around points based on a distance.
Once you have the polygons, you can use Spatial Join tool to find what polygons the points "INTERSECT". You should get the common polygon FIDs as the point group IDs.
