I am trying to use the print service in an application that has secure services and I get errors.  I have used the same print service to print non secure services without any problems.  What needs to be done to allow the secure services to be printed?  This is the error I am receiving.

Unable to connect to map server at http://<servername>/arcgis/rest/services/<service>/MapServer?token=<tokenval>

I have the same issue. ESRI logged it as a bug.
The workaround I am using now is to turn secured layers off then convert all features in current extent into graphics.
It will print but doesn't respect text symbol color and rotations.
Hope this help.

We've been struggling with this for awhile, too.  I followed the instructions here:

http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/#/Printing_maps_that_contain_secured_services/01540000...

and I can print from our webapp if I turn off security, but if it is turned on, I get the error as mentioned in the original post.  I'm thinking of controlling access from our web server or firewall so that I can turn off security for internal users, which would be fine for us in this case.

Does anyone have the ESRI bug id for this?

thanks,

ken.

Hi,

I am getting the same error, although, I haven't secured any services, apart from the default AD security restrictions.

I get this variation of the message;

Error while using HTTPS security, URL = our-url/MapServer?f=json, HTTP Status code = 0 and Status Text =

We have SSL security in place, and everything else works well. However, in my case, the print service is implemented in the ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight.

Thanks,

Nick

I have been tied up with other projects but now I'm back to this.  Does anyone have a clear solution for printing secure services?

Check my reply to a similar post and see if that helps

Thanks Matt. I tried what  you suggested and I was able to remove the token from the service in the Web_Map_as_JSON parameter.  However I am still not able to print my secure services.  I used the steps outlined here to set up the custom print service http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/#/Printing_maps_that_contain_secured_services/01540000....  Did you have to do anything special or figure out any tricks to get the secure print service to work?

Does anyone have a solution for printing secure services? The printing service is useless to have if secure services cannot be printed.

Are you still getting the same error in your AGS logs? If the URL that it is unable to get to still mentions a token (like it did in your first post), then you are not stripping the token out in your request. If the error is different then we can go from there.
