Crashing problem when generating roofs using roofHip.

I am working on a project in which I am using building footprints to extrude buildings in a city. I am using the extrude and roofHip operations to generate the models. There are about 20,000 polygons that I am working with. I am able to extrude all of the buildings very quickly as long as I do not add the roofs. As soon as I put in the roofHip operation I can only generate up to about 100 buildings at a time or else CE crashes. I have tried generating the buildings in small groups of 50-90 and it works fine however. I have tried this on multiple machines and the result is the same no matter how powerful the computer is. I am experimenting with a very simple cga rule:

Lot -->
extrude (Height) comp(f) {top: Roof | all: X}

Roof -->
roofHip(30, 0)

Any suggestions?
