The first and last name that appears to the left of your post is defined in your ESRI Global Account settings. This is not a setting specific to the forums. You can change the name that appears by logging in here:http://webaccounts.esri.com/The first and last names are required fields, so there shouldn't be any that are blank. Do you have any examples of this?
I've also noticed this as well.
I would rather my name not show...how can I get it to not show? See attached screenshot.
It would be better to let the user control this in their Profile settings (turn full name on/off) instead of clearing the web account. Don't know if this is possible but this would be the best solution.
An other useful feature may be the option to show full names only to logged-in users and not to everyone and in Google searches. This would be an acceptable privacy setting.
I see that this is an old thread but I am still having this issue come up and was never explained the set up - I am guessing this is it? I also disagree as I and clearly many others do not want our full names publicized and feel that changing our entire ESRI account is not efficient, as we have profiles for overall and specifically for geonet.
Years later and I am also frustrated by this issue and see that there is still no other solution. Anyone have any news on this? I would be concerned that changing my name could change what it shown on my course completion certificates, which is hardly professional. I need to have my name on my actual ESRI account still, for work and any future classes I take regarding GIS, but for participating in the forum I would not want this information so readily shared around.
This discussion was created in our older forums. Now within GeoNet you can get who can view your full name within the community. See Modifying Your Profile Privacy Settings
Isn't it a significant privacy issue to just change that without warning us? I was a little alarmed that my first and last name were suddenly showing up.
