When I add shapefiles to Arcgis Online the dates in the date field change automatically to the day prior. For example, if the date in arcmap is 10/2/2012 it gets changed to 10/1/2012 when I add it to Arcgis Online.
Ok thanks for your help. So I guess my only option is to create a string field and add the date that way? Also if the date is in a string field will I still be able to use the layer as a "time-aware" layer?
As of now I do not have access to the server. I have been creating the layers in Aarcmap and creating feature services in Arconline from them. I don't have any "time-aware" layers currently but I'm asking if not a using a "date" field for my dates would alter the ability to create "time-aware" layers.
Yes, I would imagine we need a date field to publish a time aware layer, once we support it in the hosted environment. As we have not implemented this functionality, I can't tell you exactly how it would work.
We are also working on exposing additional properties for date fields to override the browser behavior and not shift time displays.
I have tried offsetting the time and that did not work. I also tried setting the time to UTM Pacific Time and that did not work. I will keep messing around with it to see if I find a solution. Thanks for your help.
Jonathan, Did you find a solution or work around to this as I am having the same problems. I'm using the latest version of ArcGIS and only have the Flex viewer rater than API.
