Joined attributes missing from some service sublayers

I'm creating map services using a 10.1 file geodatabase.  Several of the layers have joins that are based on relationship classes with standalone tables in the gdb.  When I publish the services, the attributes for the joined tables are appended to the features in the service as expected. But this doesn't work for two of the layers. I've tried publishing just those two layers as a separate service, but again, the attributes from the joined tables don't show.  The services do include the tables and the relationships for those two feature classes.

I'm looking for any clues as to why those two features classes or their joined tables might be different in some way that would cause this.
