Legend Symbols for Secure ArcGISDynamic Map Service Layer not showing

I have read blogs before where it says that this problem has been solved with SP1. But I have not been able to make my legend symbols show although I am in SP4.
If some of you have make it work, could you please share what you did to make the legend symbols for a dynamic map servicelayer show in the map.
i am on javascript api 2.8.

Are you using a specific legend widget?

It was a change in the way the legend widget functions from 2.8 to 3.0+. Here's a forum post in which I faced the same issue:
