PSA: Use functions!

As many of us are aware, functions are a neat and pythonic way of constructing code. Based on trials explained in this post (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11241523/why-does-python-code-run-faster-in-a-function) and due to the nature of the python language, functions have been empirically proven to be faster than executing the same code outside a function.

Couldn't think of a better group to share this tidbit with.
