Point density from LiDAR points

I'm trying to create a "fake" point density raster of a LiDAR derived DTM. The problem is that I only have raw data (i.e. ground points) not the filtered ones. Can someone suggest any idea to make it?
The only informations I've got are these:
- The DTM is divided into two sectors,one with areas above 2000 m and one with areas under 2000 m;
- The minimum survey design point density of last return is 8 points/(5x5m) for the first sector and 3 points/(5x5m) for the second one.
I tried to create random points but it's difficult to filter them in vegetation areas.
