One of the most annoying things I have run across is the lack of a function in the "Overlay" or "Extract" tools in the "Analysis Tools" toolbox  (e.g., intersections, erases, clips, etc.) to take place on a feature-by-feature basis. Specifically, I wish there was an option that would restrict these functions to process only the features with matching Fields/IDs. Am I correct in assuming there is no direct option/method for this? I have found a way around this for some of the functions (i.e., for Intersect: only keep the resulting features with matching IDs), but this is time consuming and a waste of memory (I end up with shapefiles that have over 163,000 features that must be deleted afterward). There should be a way to do this that does not require coding a special routine = add a check box/radio button (to enable/disable the option) and drop-down list with Field names for each shapefile (for matching IDs), and only perform analyses on matching features.
