Support without customer number

Hello, I am an employee of a University.  I have no way of getting the schools customer number.  I teach students GIS and when I have my own questions I have to depend on forums for answers.  So I have to tell my students that neither I or they can find the answers.   ESRI first wants to check to see if you've paid them, if you want support. 

I haven't had a reponse to 90% of my questions.  So I have to go to some other software to complete our tasks.

Does anyone have any suggestions that can get me answers faster than never?
