I've been trying to find some recommendations for the maximum server memory setting in SQL Server 2008 R2 and haven't had any luck.
Is anyone willing to share how they have configured their environment?
Does anyone have any guidelines for determining if there is enough memory allocated to SQL Server? I have seen a number of discussions about using the Page Life Expectancy performance counter with a threshhold of 300. This number seems to be up for debate.
Our Environment:
15 or fewer simulataneous desktop ArcGIS users
12 or so ArcReader clients
20 map services with a couple thousand hits/day total
ArcSDE 9.3.1
Windows Server 2008 R2
4 cpu, 6 Gb RAM
SQL Server 2008 R2
3500 Mb max server memory
9 spatial databases
2 non-spatial databases for enterprise permitting app
Thanks in advance for any guidance, suggestions, etc.
