Avoiding creation of dummy junctions in network layer

I am building a network out of OpenStreetMap data. Sometimes, a road is broken down in two connecting segments but the point of connection is not an intersection. This kind of point creates dummy intersections in the network layer.

Does any one know a simple step I could do to avoid this issue?

(The reason I care is that I then add penalties for intersections and these are not real intersections and would need special treatment.)

Thanks for your help.
