Problems with listing data in Python script

More often than not, when I used a built in list method from the arcpy module, the python list returned contains locations in memory rather than the actual text of the objects.

For example:

import arcpy

mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument("CURRENT")
elm = arcpy.mapping.ListLayoutElements(mxd, "TEXT_ELEMENT")
print elm

RETURNS:

[<TextElement object at 0x22bb9d70[0x36a92a20]>, <TextElement object at 0x22bb9e50[0x36a92f48]>]

Is there a simple explaination that I'm missing??

Thanks!
