How to create symbol combining ICharacterMarker3DSymbol with a vertical line

I created a character marker 3D symbol which represents a airplane as a graphic symbol. How can I create a symbol combining this symbol with a vertical line from the point (airplane) to the ground (same x and y as airplane, but z=0).
