I haven't seen too much published on this topic, but are there standard accuracy ranges known for GPS data point collection using smartphones?

My second question would be, are there post-processing platforms or methods available for GPS field collected data points similar to those available for points collected using Trimble units?

Thanks for your help!

Can only help with the first question. A couple a weeks ago I was wondering the same thing about the iPad. If I recall the iPad 2 gps was +/- 3m.

Here is apple's documentation of iOS 5: Understanding Location Services.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the responses. I know this issue is in its infancy. I have tested points collected from known points and I am getting 3+ meters in accuracy as well. I hope there is a post processing solution in the future, but from what I see already this application outperforms the Trimble Nomad series. If projects require submeter accuracy, I still see Trimble XH as the solution.
