Clustering and interactivity

I have a perfectly working layer where one can drag-and-drop graphics to move them around (it simply updates their position). It works nicely.

I tried to add a clusterer. To make things even easier at the moment it's a custom clusterer that does absolutely nothing (that is: it returns the same Graphics collection that it got, actually it performs no clustering at all).

Adding a clusterer to the layer has the very annoying side-effect that the map is not updated in real-time anymore. Now if I move a graphic it seems to stay where it was, until I perform another operation like panning. This is not acceptable from a usability perspective.

Does anyone have any idea why it works that way and how could this be fixed?
