Hi there

If the ArcSDE 9.3.1 and later does not allow users to check and repair geometries, why is that when I do a dissolve I get the following error:
Dissolving...
ERROR 999999: Error executing function.
Invalid Topology [Incomplete void poly.]
Failed to execute (Dissolve).
The data was loaded using a feature class to feature class export from a file geodatabase, after having all it's errors checked and repaired and since then I've been working within ArcMap 10.0.2 and python ArcGIS modules. I've used no third party tools.

Surely the point of not being able to do a check or repair is that ArcSDE does this automatically. However if it does that, how come errors exist?

I can export to a file geodatabase but I'd prefer not to do this and going forward I am hoping to create an archive and those cannot be fully exported with a feature class.

Having done a check I am getting errors such as:
incorrect ring ordering
self intersections

So does anyone know how I deal with these errors without exporting to a file geodatabase? In fact does anyone know how to locate these errors within ArcMap itself?

I'm

Kind regards

Tim
