I am trying to solve a hypothetical problem of determining how far different escaping prisoners could get, moving at different speeds over open ground from a prison. The constrainst are that they can move over any land, but not over lakes/rivers etc. I would like to be able to produce locus of maximum distance reached by each prisoner. I know this is quite a simple problem, having done something similar for a road network using network analyst I wondered whether it would be possible to do this without a road network?
