Is it possible to add attachments to features through Python?

I have thousands of point features, each with an accompanying image file that needs to be attached to the point feature (actually as an attachment, not just putting a filename into a field).  I have a table containing the feature ID plus the filename of the associated photo.  I wish to use Python (Arcpy) to make a script that runs through the tables and attaches the appropriate file to each point.  I know I can do this through ArcObjects as an Add-In, but Python would be a lot quicker for me.

Anyone have an idea if this can be done through ArcPy?  If so, how?
