I need to make sure I have shapefiles in NAD83 lat-long projection.  My shapefiles are currently in USA, State Planes, Foot.  How do I make sure I re-project correctly?  I imported in the first shapefile and went to the "Data Frame Properties", "Coordinate Systems" tab and selected "modify".  Should I select "Transform" instead?  I then selected North_American_Data_1983.  What is the difference in NAD 83, NAD 83 HARN, NAD 83 CSRS, NAD 83 CSRS98, etc.  In the future how do I know if I am in lat-long?

My plan was to get the first shapefile projected correctly and then import the rest of the shapefiles to follow suit.  I started out using AutoCAD Map 3D 2011.
