Connecting the Dots in ArcGIS 9.3

Discussion created by bryantplatt on Jul 12, 2011
I've encountered a challenge in ArcGIS 9.3 and need some advice on how to best conquer it.  I have two different point files, with one representing the location of features at time 1 and the other the location of the same features at time 2.  Each unique feature has the same ID number in both point files.  What I need to accomplish is connecting each like point (common ID #) with a line, which would represent direction of travel.  Is there a way to have ArcGIS 9.3 do this automatically?  I know how to do it by hand in an edit session, however as there are over 450 points in each file this could prove a bit time consuming and difficult.  Any suggestions for an automated approach would be greatly appreciated!

BTW, sorry if this is posted in the incorrect part of the site, spatial statistics is the closest I could find to spatial analysis.
