Tips and Tricks for Dealing with Non-GISers

I guess a thread could go into 'GIS Industry' but I thought I'd throw it in here first and see if it gets traction.

My idea is that we could have a forum for those of us who deal with less spatially savvy types on a daily basis. Often a question or idea is posted in these forums that are answered academically or with best-practices intentions rather than making a pesky planner/PM/engineer/client happy. I've been thinking that maybe these kinds of tips and tricks are perhaps not relevant to the general discussion but I'd love to hear what other people do to keep non-GISers happy and to save time, prevent scope creep, and so on.

What are the chances any of them would ever google these forums?

My example: When I have a 'label' nitpicker I often double or triple the amount of labels on a map thus increasing their nitpicking workload. This tactic often makes them focus on their dislike for my colour choices which is far easier to deal with than moving 100 labels 2mm. This saves me hours of tedium.
