gp.describe(image).extent results as degrees decimal

Discussion created by apiszcz on May 26, 2011
Is it possible to always have gp.describe(image).extent return degrees decimal instead of the native spatial reference of the image file?

EXAMPLE: I 'want' degrees decimal for the extent result, however in this case I get NAD_1983.

f = r'Y:\p\imp_west4_2.img'
gp= arcgisscripting.create()
print gp.describe(f).SpatialReference.Name
NAD_1983_StatePlane_Massachusetts_Mainland_FIPS_2001
print gp.describe(f).extent
33000 866000 85000 878000

I would like to see the result in GCS_WGS_1984 and as degrees decimal.
THanks.
