Reducing XY resolution

Hi,

I am wondering whether it is possible to

1. reduce the XY resolution in an existing polygon feature class from 8 to 4 decimal digits
(e.g. 23.1234567800 to 23.1234000000 or 23.1235000000)

and

2. keep this reduced resolution while using geoprocessing tools ?

It would be great if there was any way to handle this problem with ArcInfo 10.

Thanks for any help in advance,
Sabine

I don't have any precision data at this place to test but I just made a featureclass to change from a XY resolution of 0.000000004602136 to 0.000000005 by setting the XY Resolution parameter in the model properties environments.

Model Properties>Environments>XY Resolution and Tolerance>XY Resolution>[Values...]

I used 'Copy features' to make the new reduced polygon.

I just changed the parameter for the XY resolution and copied the dataset - but despite of any value I use there is no effect on the data. Is there any other setting I have to take care of?

I solved the problem by importing the data into a geodatabase featureset which had the new resolution 🙂
Don't know why it didn't work via the environment settings...
