NO types or templates for editable FeatureLayer

I'm trying to add a new Feature to a layer using my iOS device.  I add the layer to my mapView as follows:

NSURL *url = NSURL URLWithString:@"http://...FeatureServer/3"];
myFeatureLayer = [AGSFeatureLayer featureServiceLayerWithURL:url mode:AGSFeatureLayerModeOnDemand];
myMapView addMapLayer:myFeatureLayer withName:@"Incident Points"];

However, when I try to access the types and templates associated with the layer, the framework returns empty NSArrays (i.e. not nil, just empty).  As a result, when I try to create a new graphic and add it to the FeatureLayer.  I noticed that the
myFeatureLayer.editable = false
, but when I login to the ArcGIS management console, I've verified that the layer IS editable.  Also, I have a FLEX webpage that's able to add/remove/update objects on the same layer.

Am I missing something Basic???  The only thing I notice is that use the name Incident Points when I add the layer to the mapView and the ArcServer definition for the layer is Ops_IncidentPoint.  Do I have to make them match or anything???

Thanks, for any help.
