Set default geodatabase

I have a few python scripts that will be run by others in ArcMap. The first script creates a geodatabase for the user and imports feature classes from ArcSDE. The next script asks for user to input feature classes from the new geodatabase to use in the script. I want to set the default feature class for them, so they don't have to search for it, but can change it if they want. However, if the default geodatabase is not set to the new one created in the first script, the feature classes won't be found.
Is there a way to  set the newly created gdb as default geodatabase in the first python script?
Alternatively, is it possible to set the script properties -> parameters, so that the Default "Parameter Properties" for the feature class refers to Workspace that will be specified by user. I don't know where the users will save their geodatabase so I can't hardcode the location for them.
