VBA documentation still relevant in VB.NET?

I took the "Introduction to Programming ArcObjects with VBA" course about 5 years ago. I am now trying to refamiliarize myself with ArcObjects and the new Add-In technology in VB.NET and VS2010. I have had a lot of difficulty finding relevant documentation for just getting started. I have tried referencing the documentation from the old VBA course, but I am concerned as to whether this documentation is even still relevent. I do not want to attempt to reference the VBA examples if they are going to lead be astray in the VB.NET environment. Are the VBA examples still applicable to VB.NET (specifically the ArcObjects references) or has the structure and syntax changed entirely?
