Field name length limited to 32 chars?

When did this limit of 32 for a field name come in?  Anyone have any info?

Hey Doug Browning,

The Error of limiting in the field name is returning when you try to publish your survey to Portal for ArcGIS.

I am getting the error in 123 before publishing.  I am not using Portal at all.

So do you mean it is a warning but will publish and work?

* If you are using ArcGIS Online - The survey will publish fine.

* If you are using Portal for ArcGIS - The survey won't publish until you minimize the number of Chars to less than 32.
