We observed that the latest versions of Mac OS (Ex: Mojave) deprecates OpenGL and must have Metal to provides graphics hardware support.

Considering that we have following queries regarding ArcGIS runtime sdk QT,

  1. Does the latest version of the ArcGIS provide support for an updated Mac OS version?
  2. The latest version of ArcGIS for Mac OS is developed based on OpenGL or Metal?
  3. If it is based on Metal, does it provide any leverage/Portability for OpenGL?

Any inputs would be really appreciated.

Hi Sukanya Gavhane‌,

Yes, the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Qt supports the latest version of macOS, Catalina, for both development and deployment.

The latest release of the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Qt is built on OpenGL technology and not Metal.  We are aware that it is deprecated by Apple and are assessing Metal support for an upcoming release. Currently the Qt Company's SDK has no support for Metal at our minimum supported version, 5.12.6 so that is a limiting factor as well.
